The background of this research stems from the low writing skills of students, which are largely influenced by their lack of interest in reading. Reading plays an essential role in enriching vocabulary, broadening knowledge, and enhancing students’ imagination. With a higher interest in reading, students are expected to compose descriptive texts more comprehensively, clearly, and engagingly. This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, specifically the Post-Test Only Control Group Design type. The population comprised all fifth-grade students of MI Arrohmah Bekasi totaling 110 students, and the sample consisted of 44 students selected through simple random sampling. The research instruments included a reading interest questionnaire and a descriptive writing skills test. The data analysis results revealed a positive and significant effect of reading interest on students’ descriptive writing skills. The hypothesis test using the t-test produced a t-value of 3.79, which is greater than the t-table value of 2.009 at a 0.05 significance level. These findings indicate that increasing reading interest contributes to improving students’ descriptive writing ability. This study recommends that teachers integrate reading literacy programs into Indonesian language learning as a strategy to enhance students’ writing skills.</p> Ropiatul Hasanah Astuti Samosir Adi Permana Copyright (c) 2025 Jurnal Pendidikan Impola 2025-07-30 2025-07-30 2 2 37 42 10.70047/jpi.v2i2.171 A Comparative Study of Family Values in Indonesian and Korean Culture: Ngeri-Ngeri Sedap Vs Reply 1988 https://publishing.impola.co.id/index.php/JPI/article/view/172 <p>This research investigates the representation of family values in the Indonesian film Ngeri-Ngeri Sedap (2022) and the Korean drama Reply 1988 (2015) through a comparative literature approach. Both films depict family as the core of identity, love, and conflict, yet reveal significant cultural differences. Ngeri-Ngeri Sedap portrays a patriarchal Batak family where traditional obligations and family honor create tension between generations, with emotions often concealed and revealed only in dramatic moments. In contrast, Reply 1988 illustrates urban Korean families characterized by open emotional expression, egalitarian gender roles, and strong neighborhood solidarity as an extension of family life. The study applies qualitative content analysis, identifying thematic patterns of family structure, emotional dynamics, and cultural expectations. Findings highlight both universal themes of familial love and the unique cultural nuances that shape family narratives in Indonesian and Korean contexts. This research contributes to comparative literature by demonstrating how film serves as a cultural text, offering insights into societal values and intercultural understanding</p> Aprilia Anzani Kezia Meily Nicharisa Sembiring Justin Hubert Butar-Butar Nurhayati Purba Copyright (c) 2025 Jurnal Pendidikan Impola 2025-07-30 2025-07-30 2 2 43 47 10.70047/jpi.v2i2.172 Majas Perbandingan dalam Novel 12 Cerita Glen Anggara Karya Luluk HF dan Implikasinya terhadap Pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia https://publishing.impola.co.id/index.php/JPI/article/view/174 <p>Literature as an art form that uses language as its medium of expression, has complex and profound dimensions. One important aspect in literary works is the style of language, which not only reflects the author's skill in arranging words, but also has a significant influence on the reader's aesthetic experience and interpretation of the text. Authors often use several types of language styles in writing a novel, one of which is figurative language. The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze the use of comparative figures of speech in the novel 12 Stories of Glen Anggara by Luluk HF and its implications for Indonesian Language Learning. This study also aims to understand the types of figures of speech that contribute to strengthening the characters, plot, and themes of the story. The approach used in this study is a qualitative descriptive approach to describe the problem and focus of the research, by collecting literature in the form of articles published through books, scientific journals both printed and online. The instrument used is a classification table of findings of comparative figures of speech in the novel 12 Stories of Glen Anggara by Luluk HF.
